Below is a Match Report  for the Trophy game verses Charnock Ridgeway on Sunday 30th December

Michael Brookes scored one goal and saved another as Millmoor Juniors progressed to the semi-final of the Sheffield and District Trophy with a priceless win.

The home side opened the scoring when Sam Wilkinson played in Danny Jones, who still with a lot to do, took one touch and curled it into the top corner. Jones then turned provider shortly before half time setting up Wesley Vaughan, only to see his effort beat the keeper but go wide. The first half ended there with Millmoor being the better team.

The second half started with Charnock creating a few good chances and displaying a better standard of football. Millmoor held their own and continued to battle. They were rewarded when Michael Brookes finished off a well crafted counter attack to extend the lead to two goals.

Charnock reduced the deficit shortly after, only to see Matthew Bailey restore the two goal lead two minutes later. Charnock tried their hardest to get back into the game reducing the Millmoor lead to one, however the great effort from all of Millmoor saw off their opponents and moved them into the Semi-final spot they so desperately wanted.

MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGER: "I think the lads should be extremely proud of themselves today, they deserved the win. I asked before the game to put everything they could into this game and they did just that."
